Engadin

Livigno is situated by the Swiss National Park and St. Moritz, the most popular excursion destinations in Engadin.

Lago di Livigno (Lake Livigno):

The Lago di Livigno, or Lago del Gallo, is a reservoir which has bordered the river Spöl gorge and the Zernez community. This man-made lake has completely changed the structure of the valley.
The international character of the valley made the negotiations for the creation of the reservoir in the town of Ponte Del Gallo very costly. The construction began in 1964 and finished in 1968. The official opening took place on the 27th August 1971.

Munt La Schera Tunnel:

The Drossa Tunnel, which was opened in 1965, is 3.4 km long and is built under the Munt La Schera. La Schera connects Livigno with the town of Punt La Drossa, which is located in the Swiss National Park. The opening of the tunnel had a very positive influence on the local economy. The tunnel connects Livigno with Switzerland and the rest of Europe, helping the region to gain popularity with tourists.

Trepalle:

Trepalle is the highest constantly-inhabited town in Europe.

In summer it stands out thanks to its wide, lush green steppe with its small houses made of wood and stone. In addition, you can see the white facade of the highest parish church in Europe from far and wide. The mountainous surroundings is perfect for hiking and mountain biking fans. Horse riders will also get their money's worth in the Vallaccia, Val Trela and Val di Torte valleys.

In the colder months the town transforms into a winter wonderland. The whole area looks as if it has a coating of icing sugar, and the traditional wooden houses are completely enveloped in snow. Meanwhile, the snow covered slopes offer perfect conditions for skiers.

Bernina Express:

The most beautiful and spectacular way to cross the Alps: the Bernina Express travels from Tirano to St. Moritz. The journey at an altitude of 2,253 m is a unique natural experience. You will get a fantastic view of the Morteratsch Glacier and the Bernina hills. From Diavolezza you can take a cable car to the glacier every 20 to 30 minutes. In 2008 the railway became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
